AKQA has announced that Laurence Parkes, formerly at WCRS, is now strategy director at its Amsterdam office.
He joins the independent marketing shop from creative agency WCRS, where he was director of digital. He’ll take a strategic focus across AKQA’s client roster.
Parkes will relocate to Holland as part of the appointment, where his initial area of focus will be the Heineken account.
Guy Wieynk, AKQA’s European MD, said, “Laurence’s skills and ambitions make him the ideal person to take strategic lead at our Amsterdam office.”
Prior to his time at WCRS, Parkes worked at BBH and DDB London, and has worked with brands including Audi and Weetabix on digital campaigns.
News of his appointment comes in the same week as AKQA’s chief creative officer Daniel Bonner and client services director William Lidstone leave to join Publicis-owned Razorfish (nma.co.uk 11 April 2011).
