Apple updates iPhone OS to limit location data storage

Apple has issued a software update for its iPhone operating system to correct the device’s location tracking issues.

The update limits the amount of location data stored on their device and this will no longer be synchronised to owners’ computers.

Apple has faced a public backlash over its location tracking software after it emerged detailed information of iPhone owners’ movements was cached on the device.

Although iPhone owners consent to this when signing their contracts, Apple has also faced criticism for not highlighting the location tracking clauses in its terms and conditions.

However, it claimed the outcry over the location data was fuelled by public confusion.
