During 2010 Canada’s telecom market grew by over 9%, fuelled in large part by a 45% growth rate in the wireless data segment which in turn was driven by increasing smartphone penetration. Data growth rates are expected to remain strong over the coming years as the popularity of non-voice wireless services such as email, social networking, internet browsing, music and video downloads, mobile TV, satellite radio and text, multi-media and instant messaging grows apace.
