Days after updating its Google+ social media application for Android, Google introduced a similarly expanded version for Apple's rival iOS platform, adding support for the Hangouts video conferencing service.

Google+ updated its app for iOS to include Messenger and an improved Hangouts. |
The update also touts the renamed Messenger group messaging service (formerly Huddle), which now enables users to attach photos to chat threads. Additional enhancements include +1 recommendations within comments, enhanced +mention support, Profile map views depicting places where users have lived and a host of reliability boosts.
Google+ launched in late June. The platform promises to rival Facebook by giving users the flexibility to selectively share materials with friends and family sorted into "circles." Google+ exited beta last week, adding roughly 10 million new users within the first two days of public availability according to a post by Ancestry.com co-founder Paul Allen. Google+ now tops 43.4 million users, Allen estimates.
