Tuesday, 27 September 2011

The exponential increase in popularity of social networking sites is expected to have a significant impact on the online retail sector. Social networking sites have become a major source of traffic for retailers and have overtaken the Rewards and Directories category in importance. E-commerce in general continued to thrive during 2010. For instance, online retail commerce spending grew by almost 10% during the first half of 2010.

Furthermore, the rate of growth in online retail sales and online advertising is expected to outpace the rate of growth of Internet penetration over the next 5 years, reflecting the fact that existing users will increase their Internet usage for both personal and commercial purposes.
