Sony consolidates social media, PR and experiential into one agency

Sony UK has appointed Cake to handle its entire social media, PR and experiential strategy in the UK.

The appointment came after the consumer technology brand pitched out all three accounts separately but then decided to consolidate into one agency.

Cake will guide strategy around specific product and campaign activity and events, as well as managing the brand’s day-to-day press office and its social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

The consolidation of accounts into one agency is in line with a growing requirement from brands to have an integrated communications strategy.

Matt Coombe, Sony’s general manager of marketing, said, “Finding the right mixture of creativity and expertise across three separate pitch processes is a hefty challenge.”

Sony’s UK business includes TVs, cameras, laptops (Sony Viao), eReaders, Sony Tablet and Sony PlayStation.
