The Guardian’s iPad app has generated over 145,000 downloads since launching a week ago, while its Facebook app has clocked up over 1m installs after its launch last month.
Over 85,000 downloads have come from UK iPad-owners, while US Guardian readers generated over 29,000 downloads. Meanwhile, downloads from the rest of the world have almost reached 32,000.
Alan Rusbridger, Guardian News & Media editor-in-chief, said, “This is our most successful app launch to date, and an important milestone as we continue to evolve into a digital-first news organisation.”
The Guardian’s iPad app comes with a £9.99 monthly subscription fee, although it is free to access until the end of the year through a sponsorship deal with Channel 4.
The Guardian also released further data claiming the latest version of its iPhone app, which launched in January, has been downloaded over 570,000 times and that its fist ad-funded Android app has clocked up 250,000 downloads.
Meanwhile, the Guardian’s Facebook app, which lets users read Guardian and Observer content from within the social network, has been installed over 1m times.
