Microsoft’s mobile advertising lead joins InMobi

Microsoft Advertising’s UK mobile lead Lee Blyth has defected to mobile ad network InMobi, which is using its latest $200m investment round to fund an ambitious expansion drive.

Blyth will be based out of InMobi’s London office and his appointment comes during a period of rapid expansion for the company, which is headquartered in India. Blyth has assumed the role of InMobi’s head of sales to bolster its profile after spending over five years at Microsoft, where he worked across its search team and more recently promoted its Windows Phone Network.

“Mobile advertising is becoming increasingly popular in this region, with 15.5bn ads delivered in Europe on InMobi’s network between July and September, and 3.6bn in the UK alone,” said Blyth in a release detailing his appointment. “Our aim is to help advertisers capitalise on this growth.”

Microsoft was unable to confirm who will replace Blyth by time of publication when asked by new media age. Although his departure soon follows the exit of Microsoft’s former head of mobile advertising Paul Lyonette, who joined mobile video ad network in August.
