Nokia is expected to release its first Windows Phone 7 device in the United States sometime in January or February, according to BGR.

The publication said the device will run a new version of Windows Phone called Tango and feature a 4.3-inch AMOLED screen, a 1.4-gigahertz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera with a similar look to the Nokia Lumia 800, which has been introduced into the European market.

Nokia is banking on the Windows Phone 7 platform to boost its lagging performance in the smartphone market.

A recent IDC poll of more than 2,100 developers revealed that 38 percent of the developers were "very interested" in the Windows Phone 7 platform. IDC said this is the highest rating Microsoft has ever achieved and puts developer interest in Windows Phone ahead of RIM's BlackBerry platform.
