Offering speeds up to 100 Mbps, Charter Communications said it is increasing the speeds for its high-speed Internet services in markets that it has upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0.
The speed of the MSO's entry level Charter Internet Express has been increased from 12 Mbps to 15 Mbps, while its Charter Internet Plus tier increases from 18 Mbps to 30 Mbps. The MSO's fastest cable modem service has been increased from 60 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and renamed Charter Internet Ultra100.
The DOCSIS 3.0 rollouts, and the increased broadband speeds, could help Charter Compete with AT&T and other broadband rivals.
Charter SVP of product and strategy Rich DiGeronimo noted in Thursday's announcement that the increased speeds could also help Charter subscribers that have multiple devices such as laptops and mobile phones and tablets connected to WiFi routers.
