Impressions across the independent InMobi mobile advertising network increased 251 percent worldwide in 2011, fueled by the growth of in-app ads as well as broad consumer and enterprise adoption of tablet devices.
InMobi reports that global smartphone impressions surged 488 percent in 2011 while tablet impressions exploded 711 percent year-over-year to 11.2 billion. The European market led the charge, with 358 percent overall growth in mobile impressions and a 722 percent increase in smartphone impressions.
Google's Android mobile operating system was the leading platform across the InMobi network in 2011, generating 21 percent of all impressions. Apple's iOS followed at 17 percent. InMobi anticipates Android will continue to maintain its lead in 2012.
InMobi serves more than 77.6 billion ad impressions each month. Its network reaches 485 million consumers in 165 countries, spanning regions including North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, the Middle East and Africa.
