Yahoo to Cut Development on Mobile Apps

Yahoo's new CEO seems to have taken a scythe  to the company's mobile apps division and the company has announced that it will be ceasing development on several of its apps.

The company said in a blog post that it is still committed to its "mobile first" approach though, and will still develop new services in the future.

The depreciated services are:

  • Yahoo! Meme (iPad and iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Mim (iPad)
  • Yahoo! Answers (Android)
  • Yahoo! AppSpot (Android and iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Deals (iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Finance (BlackBerry)
  • Yahoo! Movies (Android)
  • Yahoo! News (Android)
  • Yahoo! Shopping (iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search (iPad and iPhone)

For apps such as AppSpot and Sketch-a-Search, Yahoo added that it has decided to integrate the key features into the Yahoo! Search app.
