South Korea's smallest mobile network operator, LG Uplus has outline plans to invest an additional KRW 955 billion (US$645 million) in its LTE network this year.
The figure, reported by the Korea Herald represented about 24 percent of its equity capital, and is on top of the 1.7 trillion won invested in 2011.
The investment will go towards bringing forward the completion of nationwide coverage to March and help to secure at least 4 million subscribers by the end of this year.
"When the nationwide coverage of LTE is completed, the number of LTE subscribers will soar explosively," said a LG Uplus official.
