Cambodia's Smart Mobile announced today that its subscriber base has exceeded 2 million in January.

This milestone has been reached shortly after the remaining provinces were covered by the operator in December 2011, extending its coverage area to nationwide.

"Smart Mobile has been one of the fastest-growing mobile operators in Cambodia for the last several years which allowed us to become the third biggest mobile operator in less than three years after we started our operations. Besides operating its nationwide GSM/EDGE network using GSM900 and GSM1800, Smart Mobile was the first Cambodian operator to introduce HSPA+ technology to its subscribers. Currently Smart Mobile's 3.75G technology is accessible in 14 provinces. The operator plans to cover all 24 provinces by the end of February 2012.
