Apple is reported to have plans for a press conference next month where it will announce the launch of its iPad 3 tablet device.

The company isn't holding what has become a traditional February announcement, but sourced informed AllThingsD that an announcement would be made in March instead.

Sources informed the website that the announcement would be made in San Francisco, in the first week of March, which puts it just after the post-3GSM Congress lull.

Typically, Apple's tablets have gone on sale a week or two after their initial presentation at the press conference.

An Apple spokeswoman declined comment on the report, saying the company does not comment on rumors and speculation.
