Google has made its long anticipated move into remote file storage for music and video content with the launch of Google Play for Android devices.
Google Play can allow the storage of up to 20,000 songs free of charge, and buy new tracks from the Google store, as well as access eBooks and movies.
Starting today, Android Market, Google Music and the Google eBookstore will become part of Google Play.
Android phones and tablets will get an upgrade to their built-in Android Market app over the coming days.
In the USA, music, movies, books and Android apps are available in Google Play. In Canada and the UK, they'll offer movies, books and Android apps; in Australia, books and apps; and in Japan, movies and apps.
Everywhere else, Google Play will be the new home for Android apps.
