Global Communication in Sino-Africa Setting: Breaking the Ice

  2012 MLeague International Symposium

Nairobi, Kenya July 23 to July 25, 2012

  Organized by

International League of Higher Education in Media and

Communication (MLeague) & Day Star University, Nairobi, Kenya

  Co-chaired by

Communication University of China & Day Star University

Hosted by Department of Communication, Day Star University, Nairobi, Kenya

This symposium will be based on the 2010 MLeague Uppsala International Symposium. The 2012 MLeague International Symposium, branded as a China and global media communication conference, will be the first MLeague conference to be held in Africa and will take place in Nairobi the capital of Kenya and will be appropriately themed as, “breaking the ice”. The past few decades have witnessed an increase in exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa. As part of the fruitful cooperation and communication in the fields of economics, business, science and technology, the exchanges have now extended to the strategically significant areas of media and communication.

It is an opportune moment in time for this conference, as the level of commercial activity between China’s national media institutes and communication companies such as CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, China Mobile and African nations has significantly increased in recent years, thus, the MLeague’s Nairobi International Symposium will focus upon academic media exchanges, discussion of media issues and the consideration of possible increased cooperation between China and Africa.

Undoubtedly, this conference, as a ‘summit’ between scholars and industry experts, will lay the foundation for a consolidation of future Sino-African academic and media industry cooperation. It will also incidentally endorse the strategy of South-South Cooperation in the global setting.

The MLeague would like to invite you to attend this annual international academic symposium.

The symposium is open for all interested participants, those from partner universities of MLeague would be invited at a reduced fee.
