Productivity app maker Evernote has acquired digital handwriting app Penultimate. Financial details were not disclosed.

Penultimate app

Penultimate lets users take notes or draw on touch screen devices.

Designed to resemble a physical notebook, Penultimate enables users to write or draw on touchscreen devices using their finger or a stylus. Users can choose from a variety of virtual paper types, ink colors and line thicknesses. Notes taken in the Penultimate app can be saved directly to Evernote with a single tap.

Penultimate is available for Apple's iOS and priced at 99 cents. Evernote will maintain Penultimate as a standalone product, adding it will expand the app to new platforms and devices.

The free Evernote app allows users to take and synchronize notes across multiple devices, record voice and audio notes, and share content via Facebook and Twitter. Last week, Evernote closed a Series D financing round totaling $70 million.
