September 03, 2012 Overall handset volumes declined year on year, but revenues were up; buoyed by the shift towards smartphones. Samsung solidified its position at the head of both the mobile handset and smartphone markets in Q2 2012. Its Galaxy SIII handset was the key release in the quarter and helped the Korean company attain record market share in the quarter.
