Thailand's Dtac has reported third quarter revenues of THB21.2 billion (US$684 million), a rise of 8.2 percent over the previous year, due to an increase in VAS revenue and handset sales supported by continuing popularity in mobile internet, smart phones and social applications.
Net profit for Q312 fell by 6.3 percent to THB 2.9 billion (US$94 million), due to an impact from the increase in
revenue sharing with the state-owned CAT, and lower margin of handsets.
Subscriber growth improved strongly both QoQ and YoY with net additional subscribers at 256,706 in Q312. Therefore, at the end of Q312, Dtac's total subscriber base stood at 23.9 million, of which 10.8% were postpaid.
At the end of Q312, dtac had approximately 3,500 3G 850MHz sites in Bangkok Metropolitan Area and other 42 provinces. The target of completing 5,000 3G 850MHz sites nationwide remains by the end of 2012. Network swap nationwide has also progressed significantly at 70% completion.
